Chapter 2

...One day the kids had all grown up and the sprawling 3400 square foot home had become too large. The family moved away. But not before leaving an imprint on this home of the warmth and love they shared here.

Throughout their stay at 407 Page Road, they did some remodeling to make modern upgrades like a real master bedroom with bath. They turned the small fourth bedroom at the end of the hall into a large master bath. They were one of the first in the neighborhood to have marble counter tops on their DOUBLE vanities. What luxury! They even installed a steam shower. And carpet! Luxurious plush carpet covered the hardwoods of the den.

The next owners made some of the largest changes. There were big plans for the place. In the earlier of their renovations, they painted over the fir paneling in the den and let the light in with new windows in the sunroom. They later covered the den floors with "Terrazzo" tile and the sunroom floors with ceramic tile.

The pink tiles of the hall bath were covered with white. In fact, white was the color of the day! The interior doors were replaced with white, paneled doors. The kitchen cabinets were replaced with white, raised panel doors. They added white corian counters. White shelving was built in to the den, surrounding the fireplace. All changes that gave this family comfort in their private and family areas of the home.

Of course, there were some minor changes too. Over the years, as the kids matured, they changed the wallpaper in their bath from flowers to jukeboxes to a Chinese inspired toile print.

Unfortunately for the well-intentioned family, they resided in and remodeled the home in the 1980's - a dark time for design. All their best intentions were clouded by the sinister forces of the 1980's that convinced them that hollow core doors, imitation brass fixtures, crown molding and large white tiles would last for generations to come.

As the times changed, so did the families who lived in the home. This time, only for a few years at a time. There were two different owners before 2004.

In this year, the Davis family moved in and a chain of events ensued, including Mr. Davis' marriage to the lovely Mrs. Davis. There was music and laughter and good cheer in the house for those years until 2007. Your narrator was even a fortunate party guest, blessed with the opportunity to taste one of Mr. Davis' finely crafted martinis at a daughter's birthday party...
